SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

Primary Objective

 

As a Software Developer, your main objective is to develop, maintain, support and modernize application software within our business environment.

Areas of Accountability

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the organization’s business objectives and adhere to all organizational standards.

  • Commit to learning the current ERP application’s underlining technology to be able to support and modernize legacy systems (technology).

  • Collaborate with business “super users” and process owners to gain understanding of their needed changes and enhancements to drive the business forward.

  • Write new application software using strategic programming languages to meet new and future business requirements.

  • Code, test, troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technologies required to support current ERP applications.

  • Define implementation and training plans to rollout business process changes.

  • Serve as a core contributor within the I.T. squad for day to day operational responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years programming experience or college degree in computer related field.

  • Candidates with IBM i (AS/400) experience and RPG programming skills are considered a plus.

Required Personal Skills

  • High character individual with strong interpersonal skills and solid judgment.

  • Self-starter, willing to learn and grow and complete tasks without hands-on supervision.

  • Ability to quickly learn in order to keep pace with technology advancements and business changes.

  • Organization / Time Management skills to be able to effectively prioritize, balance, and respond to unexpected demands and changing business needs. Strong detail and deadline orientation.

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, as well as nonverbal, listening and informing.

  • Resourcefulness to solve complex problems and issues.

  • Analytical skills (problem solving) – demonstrate the ability to analyze a situation and suggest a course of action/solution.

  • Accounting or Material Management skills are desirable and considered a plus.

  • Programming skills and experience.

  • Skills and experience developing applications with Python programming language.

  • Ability to use and learn multiple development languages and technologies.

  • Write new application software using strategic programming languages (RPG, RPG ILE/Free, SQL, Python) to meet new and future business requirements.

  • Code, test, troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate IBM POWER9 hardware, IBM DB2 database, and programming technologies required to support current custom ERP software applications.

  • Define implementation and training plans to rollout business process changes.

  • Serve as a core contributor within the I.T. squad for day to day operational responsibilities.

  • 5 years RPG development programming experience.

  • Sound problem solving and trouble-shooting and de-bug skills

  • 5 years' experience in RPG development (RPG36, RPG4/ILE, SQL RPG, FREE RPG)

  • Database architecture and design skills

  • IBM DB2 Database

  • Proficient with SQL and/or DDS

  • PDM and/or RDi

  • IBM i (AS400) Operating System

  • Control Language (CL)
